The BookBoks contains around 100 physical volumes that can be borrowed by any library member. Anyone who isn’t a library member already can become one by simply scanning the QR code located on the Boks. Which, additionally, grants access to Halifax Public Libraries’ entire e-catalog—over fifty thousand titles.

Public transit users should get set and ready to be transported with stories.

Halifax Public Libraries X Halifax Transit

*

Before smartphones, people read books on public transit. To bring them back to the seats of public transports—where people have time to read—Halifax Public Libraries joined forces with Halifax Transit to have library services available along the public transit network.

_____

Idea: The BookBoks. Introduced in buses and bus shelters throughout the Halifax Transit network, the BookBoks looks like a Little Free Library. And it is—except that it belongs to Halifax Public Libraries and requires a library membership—which also can be obtained on-the-spot. The BookBoks contains physical books—around a hundred of them—and an entire catalog of e-books. Want Haligonians to become active library members? Transport them with stories.
